Local Events and Entertainment

The Client:
Canwest Mediaworks - a wholly owned subsidiary of CanWest Global Communications Corp. Canada's leading international media company.
The Challenge:
Canwest reaches almost 5 million readers every week through its newspapers and saw a significant opportunity to launch a daily entertainment newspaper / web portal for the youth segment. The concept and brand DOSE.ca was ready to engage and entertain. Now the challenge was delivering content to a the media savvy youth segment.
The Solution:
Our team has been developing partnerships with content partner for almost ten years so this assignment made sense. We looked to our application platform and customized relevant feeds from key suppliers including Yellow Pages, CinemaSource, All Music Guide, TicketMaster, MyMusic, and 24/7 Music Shop.

New DOSE.ca fans were delivered delivered music, movie, and event listings, complete with a custom branded music download shop. LGG also powered the print listings for movie showtimes and a feature that sent movie listings for a given theatre directly to the reader's mobile phone.
Going Further:
LGG was selected to repeat success for the canada.com re-launch. This iteration featured a more challenging design and more "Web 2.0" features and administration tools to support website editors spread across the country and local information for bars and restaurants.

In the course of establishing the initial data, LGG developed and presented a custom administration interface for outbound telephone agents to save time and ensure listing accuracy. This tool was used for the launch period when hundreds of venues were canvassed and the valuable database for hours of business, and other venue information was successfully built.
